The Future is Cancelled

There was no press release.
No disaster movie.
No mushroom cloud, no last-minute deal.
Just silence.
A soft, humiliating kind.
Like being left on read by your own life.
We were promised flying cars and moral clarity.
What we got was debt, weather warnings, and Terms & Conditions we never agreed to.
So we stopped waiting.
And started listening.
Not to the newsfeeds.
Not to the pundits.
To the hum in the wires.
To the dust behind the screens.
To each other.
Politics is dead.
Back self.
Build truth with your own hands.
Make noise.
Take space.
Be your own revolution.
Not protest.
Not performance.
Practice.
Somewhere, someone is
printing pamphlets with stolen toner,
feeding the community on expired data,
coding a mutual aid ledger on a laptop held together with tape and prayer.
There are no leaders.
Only signal.
Only response.
We are not building utopia.
We are building use.
“Back self” doesn’t mean isolate.
It means reconnect to the only thing that was ever real:
your time.
your hands.
your word.
And then—offer it.
Risk it.
Give it without the guarantee of return.
Truth is not delivered.
It’s built.
Messy.
Manual.
Unverified.
A sculpture made from receipts and rage.
A song looped from ambulance sirens and late rent.
A whisper passed across cracked phone screens that still somehow reach us.
We don’t want safety.
We want presence.
We don’t want power.
We want the ability to refuse.
We don’t want clean futures.
We want honest nows.
The future is cancelled.
So we make now unbearable to ignore.
